Women’s Issues Highlighted On First Day Of Democratic Convention

Reproductive rights, a key part of the package of women’s issues to be highlighted this week, will be discussed throughout the day and during speeches tonight.

“It’s like they believe the solution to unemployment is hidden in our uteruses,” Richards said at the caucus meeting, referring GOP party platform recently revealed in Tampa, which showed a strict no-abortion policy.

The abortion issue is becoming one of the most controversial of the election. Outside the Charlotte Convention Center, where many DNC events are being staged, police were forced to limit access to certain streets to keep anti-abortion protesters and hecklers separated.

Apparently it’s not the economy….

Lehman said Republicans, especially vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan, are on track to “dismantle Medicare and Medicaid and every other social program, including education.”…

That’s two - and the big show has hardly started…

Dems Busing in Crowds to Fill Stadium for Obama Speech

Their goal: help fill a 74,000-seat outdoor stadium to capacity when President Obama accepts the Democratic nomination Thursday night.

Anything short of a full house on the final night of the Democratic Party’s national convention will be instant fodder for Republicans eager to use empty seats as symbols of waning voter enthusiasm for Obama.

Democrats have been fretting for months over whether the president can draw a capacity crowd at Bank of America Stadium. Polls show voter enthusiasm is down, as are Obama’s crowds for his battleground state campaign rallies.
