Apparently we’d all be happier living in Venezuela or Cuba than in Canada or the US – because in the eyes of the folks at the “New Economics Foundation” -subsisting in a “low carbon”, low consumption and high child mortality rate country makes you “happier” than shopping at Wal-Mart, driving your SUV and collecting unemployment for 99 weeks…
Each of the three component measures – life expectancy, experienced well-being and Ecological Footprint – is given a traffic-light score based on thresholds for good (green), middling (amber) and bad (red) performance.
