Guess Who Pays For Green Energy…

Relax , Your Electric Meter is Working Perfectly

In addition to the political gains, it was not lost on the Liberals that the “caring” about the environment was a great way to raise revenue through increased taxes and fees — and they went about saving the planet by raising revenue with a zeal usually reserved for parties on left.

The fly in the ointment, of course, is that the entire premise of climate change is based on the demonstrably false hypothesis that increased CO2 in the atmosphere raises global temperatures. B.C.’s hydroelectricity produces no CO2. Increased use of B.C. hydropower cannot “contribute to climate change.”

Global Deposit Confiscation Called For By Influential CEO Of Italy’s Largest Bank

The CEO of Unicredit Federico Ghizzoni said yesterday that it is “acceptable to confiscate savings to save banks.” He said that the savings which are not guaranteed by any protection or insurance could be used in the future to contribute to the rescue of banks who fail and that uninsured deposits could be used in future bank failures provided global policy makers agree on a common approach.

Canada’s “ Economic Action Plan”… pg 144…

The Government proposes to implement a bail in regime for
systemically important banks. This regime will be designed to ensure that,
in the unlikely event that a systemically important bank depletes its
capital, the bank can be recapitalized and returned to viability through the
very rapid conversion of certain bank liabilities into regulatory capital.

.The Government will consult stakeholders on how best to implement a bail – in regime in Canada

Systemically important banks will continue to be subject to existing risk
management requirements, including enhanced supervision and
recovery and resolution plans.
Right….
By “certain liabilites” they mean “your money” and by  “stakeholders” they mean” bankers”…

Keystone – “when you’ve lost Canada, you’ve lost the argument.”

‘Leading by Example’ and the Keystone Pipeline

If Uncle Sam tucks his pack of Marlboros under his T-shirt sleeve and plays by his own rules, the Canadian moose — or whatever their Uncle Sam equivalent is — always wears his blue blazer and school tie and does his chores without being asked. Canada is a global citizen, a good neighbor, a northern Puerto Rico with an EU sensibility that earns its gold stars from the United Nations every day.

You know what else are global? Oil and gas markets. Whatever oil we’ve denied ourselves has been made up for by development in other countries. All that we’ve done is make oil prices higher than they needed to be and denied ourselves billions of dollars that would have stayed here rather than go to the Middle East. No country, save the U.S., seems at all interested in denying itself or the world much-needed economic growth by letting oil and gas sit in the ground.

Not sure if the Puerto Rico reference is a prop or a dig – and its the beaver, not the moose…otherwise, nice piece…

“The holder of this coupon is entitled to one free minor crime without prosecution!”

Mr. Denis also announced that the government plans to save $1-million a year by ending electronic monitoring for anyone under house arrest. Offenders used to wear electronic ankle bracelets allowing justice workers to monitor their whereabouts. The cost was $20,000 a year per offender.

Alberta’s Justice Minister is demanding an aplogy from The Wildrose Party for its satirical coupons. (THE CANADIAN PRESS)

TDSB sics police on sarcastic blogger

It happened to Blazingcatfur blogger Arnie Lemaire Wednesday for musing “OISE and the TDSB need to be purged, or burnt to the ground whichever is more effective.”

“My efforts have been responsible for publicly embarrassing the TDSB on several occasions, starting with the Mosqueteria, their teaching that only whites are racist, their homage to Che Guevara and of course their advocacy of Veggie Sex for children. These posts have brought deserved public scorn upon the TDSB and their sting increased manifold when major media outlets picked up the stories.”

An Annual “Homeless Count”?

How elitist…

Early results of annual homeless count encouraging

“There was almost no one compared to 2005,” Graves said. “Last night, walking around in the rain, I only found two people out sleeping.”

Robertson says the federal government needs to step up with funding if the city and region are to meaningfully reduce homelessness.

Canada’s Facebook Party

Justin may not win the leadership, but he’ll get the most “likes”

Only one-third of Liberal supporters registered to vote in leadership so far

The party boasted last week that 294,000 people had signed up over the course of the leadership contest.

Most signed up free of charge, taking advantage of the party’s new supporter class, which was intended to broaden the Liberal base and engage more than just card-carrying, dues-paying members in the leadership vote.

While only a fraction so far have bothered to take the next step, spokeswoman Sarah Bain says the party is pleased with the number who’ve registered.

Still, the failure to register by two-thirds of supporters thus far suggests they have little attachment to the party, likely won’t vote for the next leader during the week of April 6 and may not prove to be particularly useful to the party after that.

Andrew Coyne on the Supreme Court of Canada’s asinine ruling on “free speech”…

It might be interesting to know whether any of this is true — have Jews, for example, the most persistent target of hate speech through the ages, been “silenced”? — but apparently it does not matter: the government is not required to prove its case is true, and the defendant is not saved if his case is. At one point the Court muses that a failure to ban hate speech, in so far as it “silences” the targeted groups, may be “more rather than less damaging to freedom of expression.”

From which we may conclude that any government that relaxed such restrictions would soon find itself condemned by the Court — as a threat to free speech.

Supreme Court strikes down part of Saskatchewan human rights code, but rules against pamphleteer -

In narrowing the definition of Saskatchewan’s hate speech laws, the Supreme Court set out a test to act as a guide for other provinces when viewing hatred in the context of a prohibition of expression: whether a reasonable person would view it as likely to expose a person or persons to “detestation and vilification on the basis of a prohibited ground of discrimination.”
