Nunavut man who fired a semi-automatic rifle at five home intruders, killing three, has murder convictions overturned

At 3 a.m. Mr. Bishop called the RCMP saying men were trying to break in.

Long before help arrived, his front door started to give way to the kicking, and he retreated to his bedroom. He readied a gun.

He held what is called an SKS-D, which he legally owned. The semi-automatic rifle is supposed to hold only five bullets but Mr. Bishop fitted it with a 25-bullet “banana clip,” an illegal add-on that gives it a similar appearance to an AK-47.

The first man through the bedroom door carried a samurai sword. Another had a broken golf club…

Lucky for him…

When a Border is not a Barrier…

Chuck Schumer:

“…want to make sure the border’s secure but not to use it as a barrier to prevent the 11 million from eventually gaining a path to citizenship.”

DHS Report: Mass Shooters Prefer Handguns, Not Likely To Be Veterans

This is what a mass killer looks like, according to a Department of Homeland Security analysis. He works alone. He uses a semi-automatic handgun. He’s a he. And he probably didn’t serve in the U.S. military.

That’s the conclusion of a November 28 analysis by the New Jersey branch of the Department of Homeland Security’s partnership with state and local law enforcement. The so-called intelligence “Fusion Center” sifted through data on 29 major mass killings in the U.S. since 1999, starting with the Littleton, Colorado school shooting. Its practical advice is to be more concerned by your co-worker with the bad hygiene who mutters about putting his “things in order” than by the war veteran in the next cubicle.

Why do mass shooters look more like Neo than John McClane?

Globe and Mail reaches an astonishing conclusion…

For many young women, showing up at home with a pleasant-looking, well-behaved boyfriend – even if your family never sees him again – is better than enduring two weeks of questions about why there’s no marriage or kids on the horizon.

But most, he adds, “just want someone to go with them to their hometown for three days, just to meet their parents and let them know they have a boyfriend.”

Sexist, Racist, Atheist, Communist – you name it, China’s got it….

Unions Sour On Obama(Care)…

Union leaders say many of the law’s requirements will drive up the costs for their health-care plans and make unionized workers less competitive. Among other things, the law eliminates the caps on medical benefits and prescription drugs used as cost-containment measures in many health-care plans. It also allows children to stay on their parents’ plans until they turn 26.

To offset that, the nation’s largest labor groups want their lower-paid members to be able to get federal insurance subsidies while remaining on their plans. In the law, these subsidies were designed only for low-income workers without employer coverage as a way to help them buy private insurance.

Top officers at the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, the AFL-CIO and other large labor groups plan to keep pressing the Obama administration to expand the federal subsidies to these jointly run plans, warning that unionized employers may otherwise drop coverage.

Holder’s Race Based Justice Promotes Gun Violence?

31 Jan

Senator Jeff Sessions, truly a voice of reason in most things, highlighted the number of Federal prosecutions pursued by the DOJ in gun crime has dropped to nearly zero since Holder took over at DOJ…

Since Blacks kill each other with handguns at ten times the rate of non-blacks, and since Holder is on record as declaring he needs to look after “his people…

….and the DOJ has a policy of pursuing cases based on race – prosecuting whites while turning a blind eye to any federal offense committed by blacks, it is clear…

The way to solve gun violence in the US is to fire Holder….

That’s one way to look at it…

Menendez rushes to pay private-jet tab after FBI raid

Wonderful things, FBI raids.  This comes at a particularly sensitive time, as Menendez is slated to take over for John Kerry as chair of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.  Until last night, Menendez had insisted he did nothing wrong, but the sudden payment of $58,500 for private jet flights that took place almost three years ago makes it look as if there is more to the investigation than Menendez has admitted.

It’s not corruption  rape when a Democrat commits it
