Karma is a Bitch – Ft. McMurray

5 May

This week’s fire in Ft McMurray, tragic as it is, provides some real insight into the gulf that divides the productive and non-productive parts of Canadian society.

The productive part of Canada are the oil workers, farmers, construction workers and private sector who do all of the working and paying in this country. The unproductive part is the left – the public sector, SJWs, Climate Alarmists – supporters of Elizabeth May, Rachel Notley and Justin Trudeau, who do all the spending, bitching and little of the work.

The euphoria of the schadenfreude the left exhibits over the loss of property and livelihoods of the people of Ft. McMurray, a place that represents everything about Canada they hate, is on full display.  From former NDP candidate Tom Moffat, suggesting the disaster is “Karma” for the evil oilsands business on Twitter, to the deranged comments by Elizabeth May that the fire is a result of climate change – these leftist seem to see the Ft. McMurray fire as a win for their side.

While the productive part of society raises money for the victims, gets ready to rebuild and takes care of the housing and feeding of the evacuees, doing the things the left talk about – May, Moffat and rest of the left – which, for the past 20 years, has been almost entirely on oilsands related economic activity to fund their destructive pursuits – wallow in a sea of self righteous hubris with a “told you so” attitude that has no basis in fact or science

Ft. McMurray will rebuild – and as the reality of the world’s need for fossil fuels becomes clear – prosper – No thanks to left, or frankly our various government agencies who have proven to be next to useless.

Karma is a bitch – as the left will discover in time.

For those who think Ft. McMurray is Gaia’s way of punishing oilsands workers, here’s some science..

The World Turns

Tony Abbott will become Australia’s Prime Minister. I’d like to second John O’Sullivan’s wise words on Mr Abbott’s conservatism: we’re not talking about a Cameronesque trimmer and opportunist here.

…it’s worth noting that Canada, New Zealand, Australia and Britain now all have prime ministers to the right of the US president…

It’s Not That Liberals Are Stupid…

13 Aug

It’s that everything they know is wrong…

…it is self-styled intellectuals, especially the ones who refer to themselves as ‘liberal’, who use such pseudo-scientific tactics to pathologise their opponents as a mentally and intellectually inferior political species. And there is barely any dissent from this view…

…it is the conviction that most human beings have the potential to grasp the issues facing their communities that underpins the ideals of democratic politics and popular sovereignty. The real problem today is not stupid conservatives, but people liberals with multiple university degrees who ‘don’t get’ what it truly means to be an intellectual.

Perhaps it is because they are wrong…

Or is it the Jews? …  Either Way Time to Stock Up

Charles I of England infamously commandeered 200,000 pounds of his own citizens’ gold right before the English Civil War in 1638. Roosevelt confiscated his entire nation’s gold holdings roughly three centuries later.

And of course, Cyprus raided domestic bank accounts earlier this year in a desperate attempt to bail-in the national banking system.

It’s foolish to think that these things cannot happen, especially when you look at the numbers.

“Women are clueless about politics”

No Shit…

The fact that women are more interested in Kim Kardashian than Stephen Harper is bad for democracy.

But Good for Trudeau and Obama...

But ask a different set of questions, and you’ll get a different gender gap. When is Grandma’s birthday? Who heads the school parents’ group? What are the new hours at the library? Which has more calories, a grilled chicken sandwich or a hamburger? What are the pros and cons of co-sleeping? How long have we been married?

Is America in a Pre-Revolutionary State this July 4th?

Ironically, if our society enters a revolutionary phase, liberals will find themselves in the role of the Islamists, defending a shopworn and reactionary ideology on religious grounds, because it is only their faith that holds their ideas together at this point.

… I am filled with foreboding about what’s to come, indeed about what is already here. When I look at the masses swarming in Tahrir Square, I am at once repelled and attracted, repelled because, to be honest, I find their culture more than a bit crazy, but attracted because I know something is seriously wrong, not just in Egypt but in the USA.

Soviet agents subverted US in 1930s

“Americans have been betrayed … by our leaders going back to FDR’s administration in the 1930s because we were penetrated by Soviet agents to such an extent that our policies and, indeed I argue, our character as a nation was subverted,” she explained in an interview with The Daily Caller’s Ginni Thomas about her book, “American Betrayal: The Secret Assault on Our Nation’s Character.”

Cyprus bail-out vote

Green MP George Perdikis told the Cyprus Mail that he would vote against it to uphold the “freedom” of his country. “It is a crime to deliver Cyprus into the hands of the troika and allow it to become a colony.”

It is also a crime to steal people’s money…

Meanwhile the EU slips further into depression…

In a defiant statement, an alliance of the ECB, Commission and Eurogroup said the “evidence is clear” that EMU crisis policies have been a success and recovery is in sight.

Steen Jacobsen from Saxo Bank accused EMU leaders of dangerous complacency. “Nothing they say is true. Reality has never been further away. It’s scary,” he said. “We think the eurozone is in far worse shape than they realize. We will see contraction of 1pc this year but it could be as bad as 2pc.”

Citigroup cut its forecasts drastically, warning that EMU will shrink both this year and next, with a quasi-slump dragging on until 2017.

Global Deposit Confiscation Called For By Influential CEO Of Italy’s Largest Bank

The CEO of Unicredit Federico Ghizzoni said yesterday that it is “acceptable to confiscate savings to save banks.” He said that the savings which are not guaranteed by any protection or insurance could be used in the future to contribute to the rescue of banks who fail and that uninsured deposits could be used in future bank failures provided global policy makers agree on a common approach.

Canada’s “ Economic Action Plan”… pg 144…

The Government proposes to implement a bail in regime for
systemically important banks. This regime will be designed to ensure that,
in the unlikely event that a systemically important bank depletes its
capital, the bank can be recapitalized and returned to viability through the
very rapid conversion of certain bank liabilities into regulatory capital.

.The Government will consult stakeholders on how best to implement a bail – in regime in Canada

Systemically important banks will continue to be subject to existing risk
management requirements, including enhanced supervision and
recovery and resolution plans.

Obama administration pushes banks to make home loans to people with weaker credit

President Obama’s economic advisers and outside experts say the nation’s much-celebrated housing rebound is leaving too many people behind, including young people looking to buy their first homes and individuals with credit records weakened by the recession.

Meanwhile, the Obama Economy seems to be working…

U.S. sees highest poverty spike since the 1960s

It’s an ideological fight that dates back decades. Republicans work from the premise that by unleashing the private sector and removing government controls, all Americans will prosper along with the economy and benefits will flow down to lower-income earners.

Democrats insist there is an essential role for government in putting a floor under the poor and helping local governments with problems that the private sector cannot or will not shoulder.

So Conservatives want people to have jobs, and the Liberals want everyone to have a mortgage…

Enjoy the Decline
