If You Like Your Unemployment Data…

It’s Organizing For Obama Bullshit…

On Friday October 5, 2012, the BLS released what was arguably the most important report of Obama’s first term: the final jobs number, and unemployment rate before the November 2012 presidential election. As so many predicted, it “plunged” from 8.1% to 7.8% allowing the president to conduct countless teleprompted speeches praising the success of his economic recovery. It also served as the basis for the infamous Jack Welch tweet: “Unbelievable jobs numbers..these Chicago guys will do anything..can’t debate so change numbers” and prompted the pro-Obama media to quickly brand all those who questioned it as conspiracy theorists.

In the home stretch of the 2012 presidential campaign, from August to September, the unemployment rate fell sharply — raising eyebrows from Wall Street to Washington. The decline — from 8.1 percent in August to 7.8 percent in September — might not have been all it seemed. The numbers, according to a reliable source, were manipulated. And the Census Bureau, which does the unemployment survey, knew it…

When They Say “Homicide Suspect”, They Mean Black…

Homicide Black suspect implicated himself…

Javon Tyrek Rogers… nice name…

Javon Tyrek Rogers

City officials today implicated the suspected murderer of 99-year-old city resident Fannie Gumbinger in five additional burglaries in the City of Poughkeepsie within the last three weeks.

The suspect, Javon Tyrek Rogers, 20, is accused of burglarizing and murdering Gumbinger, who was found dead early Wednesday morning in her home on Underhill Avenue.

“Nobody should to 99 (years old) and die this way,” City police Chief Ron Knapp said. “It was a truly senseless killing.”

Race, apparently, is not an issue….

Unemployment Soars To March 2012 Levels

Can you say Obamacare…

What is most worrying about the latest data is the rapid rise in both unemployment and underemployment that the Gallup poll finds (to 8.9% unemployment and 17.9% underemployment. Unemployment rates have jumped notably in the last month to their highest in 13 months. Will the Fed ‘allow’ this data to filter into the BLS data and ‘avoid the Taper’ or are there non-economic reasons …

ADP Private Jobs Plunge, Miss; Fall For Fifth Month In A Row

Concurrently he (Zandi) also announced that the just released April ADP was a huge miss to expectations of 150K, printing at just 119K, or a 31K miss. This was the 5th month in a row of declines excluding the small bounce in February data. It also means that the combined miss to expectations including March (original estimate +200K) and April (estimate 150K) is precisely 100K.

QE at Work… Britons turn to food banks

24 Apr

Paul Krugman is thrilled!

More hard-up Britons turn to food banks

The Trust has launched food banks at a rate of three a week in recent months, and now operates 345 branches across the UK. Part of the rise in referrals can be attributed to the network’s rapid growth, but while food bank branches have risen by 76 per cent in a year, referrals have increased by 170 per cent. “It’s a more much intense use,” Mr Mould added. “The fundamental thing is that more and more people are living an increasingly precarious life financially.”

During the Great Depression, the desperation was graphically evident with long lines of families waiting for soup; in the new depression, the record levels of starving and needy are hidden by a blanket of EBT cards and direct transfers from government. The situation is no less terrible – no matter how hidden from view.

But hey – the Stock Market is up!…

Obamacare – Thy Name Shall Not Be Spoken…

5 Apr

Why are so few people working in the US?

It’s sequestration,

“Sequestration is going to have an adverse effect” on the economy, Alan Krueger, chairman of the White House Council of Economic Advisers, said on Bloomberg Television. “That’s one of the headwinds we’re facing.”

it’s the weather,

“The big weakness in March was retail, and this was the coldest month of March we’ve had in over a decade,” said Russell Price, a senior economist at Ameriprise Financial Inc. in

it’s payroll tax hike,

Some of the weakness appeared due to tax hikes enacted in January.

But it couldn’t possibly be Obamacare… could it?

…there is expected to be an increase in costs associated with the affordable health care act (“ACA,” see “Risks” section). To mitigate this cost, employees that were working more than 30 hours per week, but less than 33, have moved down to 29 hours per week, reducing the “full time” pool requiring health insurance from 1100 to 835 employees…

Housing Got Us Into This Mess…

And apparently is going to keep us here..

Obama administration pushes banks to make home loans to people with weaker credit

President Obama’s economic advisers and outside experts say the nation’s much-celebrated housing rebound is leaving too many people behind, including young people looking to buy their first homes and individuals with credit records weakened by the recession.

Meanwhile, the Obama Economy seems to be working…

U.S. sees highest poverty spike since the 1960s

It’s an ideological fight that dates back decades. Republicans work from the premise that by unleashing the private sector and removing government controls, all Americans will prosper along with the economy and benefits will flow down to lower-income earners.

Democrats insist there is an essential role for government in putting a floor under the poor and helping local governments with problems that the private sector cannot or will not shoulder.

So Conservatives want people to have jobs, and the Liberals want everyone to have a mortgage…

Coming Soon to Your Bank…

Could The “Cyprus Fiasco” Occur In The United States?

So, if the US was to go the Cyprus route, and begin impairing balance sheet liabilities to remark assets, there would be precious little space (with just $4.3 trillion in total other funding liabilities), before one would need to start eating into the deposit base, should Congress decide to implement a very “fair and just” financial asset tax in the US next.

Will Congress do this? Obviously, nobody can answer that question now. However, it was “absolutely certain” as recently as 48 hours ago that Cyprus too would see no depositor “bail in” either. Then things changed rapidly. What is known, is that according to the same BCG chart we showed last night, the necessary debt-reduction needed in the US to reach a sustainable debt level, was over $8.2 trillion using debt numbers as of 2009…

What could possibly have gone wrong in four years?

…the bottom line is that the Rubicon has been crossed, and deposits have now been forcefully confiscated in what Europe promises to be a standalone case. What is certain, is that nobody will wait to find out how long it takes before Europe’s class of increasingly more desperate and ill-meaning despots is found to be have lied once more (as it has about everything else since the start of the European crisis). And while the mainstream media will be focused primarily on Europe in the coming days, as BCG and we have warned, the topic of “wealth taxation” is now front and center, and it stars not only Europe, but the US as well.

It’s all good, until they start to come for your stuff…

and any assets, any “wealth” saved, stored, and hidden, is now fair game in the global forced wealth transfer game…

It’s never different this time…

It’s Never Different This Time…

Think this can’t happen where you live? Think again…

Throughout history, bankrupt governments in decline almost ALWAYS fall back on a time-tested playbook.

This includes imposing controls on EVERYTHING– wage and price controls, trade controls, capital controls, border controls, people controls. Everything. And this idea goes back to the dawn of human civilization.

So, again, if you think that gold criminalization, price controls, and IRA/pension confiscation could NEVER happen where you live, think again.

It’s probably nothing to worry about…
