“The American head of state grew up with a mother on food stamps,”

29 Nov

“the British head of state grew up with a mother on postage stamps.”

Contrary to the impression that he has so assiduously worked to cultivate, Barack Obama is not a king of either the divine-right or impotent-figurehead variety, but instead the president of a republic.

…it all becomes a bit trickier when the person in the scenario is the most powerful man in the world and not merely a figurehead or one-off talent. Popularity contests are all well and good. Until you hold one for the position of commander-in-chief.

Obama heckled by his own ‘supporters

A young man standing onstage with Obama at an event Monday in San Francisco disrupted the president’s speech by shouting pro-immigration slogans.

“There are thousands of immigrants deported every day,” yelled the heckler, who was a member of the multi-cultural crowd that the White House had assembled behind the president.

About That Nuke Deal…

Obama’s Staggering Incompetence

State Department spokeswoman Jen Psaki said that the six-month interim period, during which Iran would take steps to rein in its nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief, has not yet begun. Furthermore, there are still a number of details to be worked out, she said, without specifying what points had yet to be finalized…

…Psaki said, “it would be a progression,” but she acknowledged that they were still “working through” it.

“It’s not one month and it applies to all of the relief internationally,” she explained. “So there would be a progressive process over the course of the first set.”

Psaki also said that among the “technical details” yet to be worked out was the order in which sanctions would be relieved.

It’s Organizing For Obama Bullshit…

On Friday October 5, 2012, the BLS released what was arguably the most important report of Obama’s first term: the final jobs number, and unemployment rate before the November 2012 presidential election. As so many predicted, it “plunged” from 8.1% to 7.8% allowing the president to conduct countless teleprompted speeches praising the success of his economic recovery. It also served as the basis for the infamous Jack Welch tweet: “Unbelievable jobs numbers..these Chicago guys will do anything..can’t debate so change numbers” and prompted the pro-Obama media to quickly brand all those who questioned it as conspiracy theorists.

In the home stretch of the 2012 presidential campaign, from August to September, the unemployment rate fell sharply — raising eyebrows from Wall Street to Washington. The decline — from 8.1 percent in August to 7.8 percent in September — might not have been all it seemed. The numbers, according to a reliable source, were manipulated. And the Census Bureau, which does the unemployment survey, knew it…

NY Times Declares Washington, D.C. The “Gayest Place In America”…

“Why are they all here?” he asks. “One answer seems to be that they have always been here. Gays and lesbians do seem to be drawn to politics in disproportionately high numbers. [Democratic lobbyist Steve] Elmendorf told me he thinks that gay people, because they were mostly without children, were able to resist the draw of higher pay in the private sector.

“If voter ID was intended to suppress votes,…”

12 Nov

..It is failing as spectacularly as HealthCare.gov.”

Which really is faint praise…

So in its first real-world test, Texas’ voter ID law — which 66% of Texans support, according to a 2012 University of Texas poll — had no impact on suppressing the vote. It even can be argued that voter ID helped increase turnout. Turnout was up, and in fact, the 2013 constitutional amendment election saw the highest constitutional amendment election turnout in Texas in about eight years.

Opponents of voter ID must come up with a new line to attack it. The old dog that it suppresses the vote just won’t hunt.

America’s Youth – Getting What They Voted For

Good and Hard…

…insurance costs are soaring for the young. In 45 states and Washington, D.C., young adults will find that their premiums have risen since Obamacare’s implementation, according to an October study by the conservative Heritage Foundation. And in most states, we’re not talking about the kind of slight increases that could be offset by forgoing a couple of lattes a month. Instead, these increases are enough to make young adults squeeze in another roommate — or maybe even move back in with Mom and Dad.

Obamacare requires better coverage than in the past, which also explains the higher premium. But young adults don’t need the added costs. In Arizona, the average monthly premium for a 27-year-old is expected to soar to $261.87 a month, up from $102. It’s the same story in other states, including Georgia (where monthly premiums are increasing by $165), Illinois ($133), Michigan ($138) and Vermont ($216).
