Karma is a Bitch – Ft. McMurray

5 May

This week’s fire in Ft McMurray, tragic as it is, provides some real insight into the gulf that divides the productive and non-productive parts of Canadian society.

The productive part of Canada are the oil workers, farmers, construction workers and private sector who do all of the working and paying in this country. The unproductive part is the left – the public sector, SJWs, Climate Alarmists – supporters of Elizabeth May, Rachel Notley and Justin Trudeau, who do all the spending, bitching and little of the work.

The euphoria of the schadenfreude the left exhibits over the loss of property and livelihoods of the people of Ft. McMurray, a place that represents everything about Canada they hate, is on full display.  From former NDP candidate Tom Moffat, suggesting the disaster is “Karma” for the evil oilsands business on Twitter, to the deranged comments by Elizabeth May that the fire is a result of climate change – these leftist seem to see the Ft. McMurray fire as a win for their side.

While the productive part of society raises money for the victims, gets ready to rebuild and takes care of the housing and feeding of the evacuees, doing the things the left talk about – May, Moffat and rest of the left – which, for the past 20 years, has been almost entirely on oilsands related economic activity to fund their destructive pursuits – wallow in a sea of self righteous hubris with a “told you so” attitude that has no basis in fact or science

Ft. McMurray will rebuild – and as the reality of the world’s need for fossil fuels becomes clear – prosper – No thanks to left, or frankly our various government agencies who have proven to be next to useless.

Karma is a bitch – as the left will discover in time.

For those who think Ft. McMurray is Gaia’s way of punishing oilsands workers, here’s some science..

Statement from the Government of Canada regarding the repeal of (Australian) carbon tax

Our government knows that carbon taxes raise the price of everything, including gas, groceries, and electricity. Prime Minister Abbott has said that, in Australia, the repeal of the carbon tax will reduce the average household’s cost of living by (in Australian dollars) $550 a year, take $200 off household power bills and $70 off gas bills.

“Our government has reduced greenhouse gas emissions while protecting and creating Canadians jobs – greenhouse gas emissions are down since 2006, and we’ve created 1 million net new jobs since the recession – and we have done this without penalising Canadian families with a carbon tax.”

Now if we just fix BC…

Just how credible are these climate models?

6 Nov

They’re Not

In other words, over the past third of a century—the period with the greatest amount of anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions—the behavior of the real world (i.e., reality) falls far below the average expectation of climate models and, in fact, is clearly inconsistent with the range of model results. Less than 2.5 percent of model runs show that global warming is really global luke warming to the degree that real-world observations indicate.

Basically, the models don’t work.

This reality ought to be enough to stop the anti-fossil fuel (via carbon dioxide emission restrictions) crusaders in their tracks.

But it won’t…

Cheating the Other Guy and Passing the Savings on to You…

Because like any other Ponzi, this particular welfare program Obamacare needs an influx of new registrants, especially young ones, to keep the funding coming in and succeed. Otherwise, not even all central bank chairmen getting to work around the globe creating wealth effects for a few hundred thousand people, or all false-flag, YouTube justified diversionary wars around the world, will do much to deflect attention from how the supposedly crowning achievement of Obama’s two-term presidential career has disintegrated before everyone’s eyes.

…a far deeper problem with Obamacare than the ongoing website debacle, is that the targeted core constituency of Obamacare, young people under 35, are nowhere near the fastest enrolling population group, with that distinction instead going to the oldest group, people 55 and over, which also happens the be the biggest use of funds within Obamacare. From the WSJ:

Government is Magic

Our technocracy is detached from competence. It’s not the technocracy of engineers, but of “thinkers” who read Malcolm Gladwell and Thomas Friedman and watch TED talks and savor the flavor of competence, without ever imbibing its substance…

…The Navy had to be cut to the bone and the Benghazi mission had to make do without security so that a Canadian company which began employing a classmate of Michelle Obama’s could score over half a billion to build a broken website. Obama mocked Mitt Romney’s criticism of his Navy cuts by telling him that we don’t fight with bayonets and horses anymore. Bayonets and horses are outdated. In our glorious modernity, we spend fortunes to build websites that don’t work instead.
…Competence is the real modernity and it has very little to do with the empty trappings of design that surround it. In some ways the America of a few generations ago was a far more modern place because it was a more competent place. For all our nice toys, we look like primitive savages compared to men who could build skyscrapers and fleets within a year… and build them well.

When They Say “Progressive” They Mean “Communist”

I Generally speaking, government always grows — it never shrinks — whether times are good or bad.

II In each area it purports to “assist”, government attempts to replace individual decision-making with central planning.

III In order to implement its grand central plans and solidify its power, government must take from one citizen to give to another; this is, in effect, lawful theft.

IV No matter how many times central planning fails, the self-appointed masterminds in government assert that “this time is different” and that with only a few tweaks and more money, their delusional plans will succeed.

V Because it uses funds confiscated from taxpayers, self-restraint is no obstacle to government’s ambitions.

VI Its fundamental misunderstanding of human nature notwithstanding, government must claim to grant “rights”, which require it steal the labors of one citizen to give to another (such as food, shelter, employment, and health care).

VII No matter how widespread the harm it causes, government will never provide an honest and historical accounting — a report card — of its failures.

VIII As more individuals and families are harmed by the failures of central planning, government must find suitable scapegoats, must lie to do so, and therefore must also repress dissent.

IX In order to build its network of redistribution and grow a culture of dependency on its services, government must inevitably undermine the family unit, religion, and the notion of God-given rights in order to cow, bribe, or intimidate its citizens.

X As government grows ever more powerful, it must also become increasingly oppressive through compulsion and force. To do otherwise would mean government must shrink, and this it cannot do.

And when all else fails – Lie

Women’s War on Obamacare…

2 Nov

Majority think health law needs overhaul or elimination

…among women, a group President Barack Obama won by 11 points in 2012, just 38 percent think it’s a good idea, while 45 percent do not. That’s down from early October, when most women said the law was a good idea by a 41-39 percent margin.

Among white women, results are even worse. Three weeks ago, they thought it was a bad idea by a 46-36 percent margin. Now a majority say so, at 52-32 percent.

So “women’s health” is more than just free contraceptives and abortions?…

Obamascare depends on women (who hate it) and young “invincibles” (who won’t buy it)…

Andrew Klaven…

…Obama and many of our journalists were trained in the post-modern academy where they were taught that there is no such thing as moral truth but only culturally inculcated narratives. In such a world, the moral narrative that can be drummed into the head of the populace is the truth that wins. Convincing people that a good has been achieved is the same as achieving it.

Obama – “Often in error but never in doubt…”

Barack Obama could walk into the Rose Garden and step on a half-dozen rakes like Foghorn Leghorn in an old Looney Tunes cartoon, and the official line would be, “He meant to do that.”…

…His allegedly revolutionary decision to turn his presidential campaign into a personal political organization independent from the Democratic party has turned out to be the most expensive way ever to generate smarmy and ineffectual e-mail spam. And, if you want to believe that Obama’s goal in Syria all along was to elevate Vladimir Putin and alienate all of our Middle East allies, including Saudi Arabia and Israel, and to make Bashar Assad our strategic partner while he finds more politically correct ways to slaughter his own people, well, that’s nice.

…he didn’t know how terrible things were over at HHS. In other words, the chess master didn’t even know what pieces he had on the board, which is usually not something we associate with chess masters. It’s something we associate with people who don’t even know how to play the game.

Which Apparently Happened Today…

Today, one of America’s best-known welfare programs with 47.6 million participants or 15% of the total population, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program also known as “foodstamps” or EBT, is due for a substantial haircut: beginning Friday, there will be a phased in $5 billion reduction (6% of the program) for the 12 month period starting November 1st 2013. So what happens next?

Food Riots?
